Gyrocardiography Signal Processing Considering Cardiac Orientation
The gyrocardiography (GCG) signal, which reflects thoracic torsion induced by cardiac torsion, presents a promising avenue for continuous, ambulatory monitoring, thereby enabling early health assessments and diagnoses of cardiovascular diseases. However, the physiological mechanisms underlying the GCG signal remain incompletely characterized, and standardized annotation protocols are absent. This study investigates GCG signals acquired from multiple acquisition sites, comparing signals from subjects with normal and displaced cardiac anatomy. We introduce a novel methodology for processing GCG signals, involving coordinate axis rotation to align the new signal axes with the axis of left ventricular torsion, thereby optimizing GCG signal fidelity. This approach is critical for elucidating the physiological significance of GCG signals and for establishing a mechanistic model linking cardiac torsion to thoracic wall torsion signals.
