Contactless Vital Sign Measurement

Human breathing and heart rate measurement using a 60 GHz radar is presented by this paper. The proposed signal processing procedure for the extraction of time-varying respiratory data and heart rates is based on the digital wavelet transform on sampled phase measurements. The methodology was implemented and evaluated in a proof of concept involving three subjects and nine measurements under diverse conditions, including held breath, high-intensity measurements, and random body movements.

Abstract

Human breathing and heart rate measurement using a 60 GHz radar is presented by this paper. The proposed signal processing procedure for the extraction of time-varying respiratory data and heart rates is based on the digital wavelet transform on sampled phase measurements. The methodology was implemented and evaluated in a proof of concept involving three subjects and nine measurements under diverse conditions, including held breath, high-intensity measurements, and random body movements.
