Optimization Study of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with External Rotor for Robotic Arm Based on Taguchi's Method
To enhance electromagnetic performance and minimize cogging torque in robotic arm external rotor permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). First, the complex relationship of PMSM structure is attributed to three variables. Then, the thickness of the permanent magnet, the air gap length and the slot width are taken as the optimization parameters, and the optimal parameter combinations are obtained and the cogging torque and average torque are analyzed by orthogonal experimental method. Finally, finite element simulation experiments were carried out on the motor using electromagnetic simulation software to prioritize the parameter combination with the lowest cogging torque. The results of the simulation tests show a significant reduction in the cogging torque of the motor in comparison with the before optimization motor and a significant improvement in the electromagnetic performance, making it possible and effective in practice.
