Pcfm Complementary Waveform Sets Design Method Towards Reduced Sidelobe Levels
Transmit waveforms with low sidelobe properties present great applications in various sensing systems. In this paper, we mainly focus on the design of the complementary waveform sets with impulse-like auto-correlation functions. To improve its physical feasibility for practical radar systems, the design of the polyphase-coded frequency modulation (PCFM) waveform sets is considered here. Specifically, we first model the waveform design progress as an unconstrained fractional optimization model by minimizing the ratio of mainlobe energy and sidelobe energy at the receiver end. Then, a limited Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno (LBFGS) algorithm is further developed to search for the optimal waveform sets. Finally, several numerical experiments are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the designed waveform sets.
