Design and Experimental Validation of a Novel Permanent Magnet Array

The magnetic adsorption module is an essential component of magnetic adsorption wall-climbing robots, and enhancing its adsorption force under constraints of volume and weight presents a significant topic and critical challenge. This study proposes a novel magnetic array design, termed the Simulated Ideal Magnetic Circuit (SIMC) array, to augment the efficiency of the magnetic adsorption module. Additionally, a cost-effective experimental methodology is introduced to systematically investigate the impact of different arrays on the adhesive force of magnetic attachment modules. Experimental results demonstrate that, under identical conditions of volume and weight, the SIMC array achieves a 61.3 % improvement in magnetic adhesion force compared to the Linear array, and a 9.9 % enhancement over the Halbach array. The methodologies and outcomes presented herein contribute substantially to the optimization of magnetic adhesion modules and the advancement of wall-climbing robotic technology.
