Odd Number of Modular Phase-Shifted Full-Bridge Converter Design With Wide Range Zero-Voltage Switching Effect and Minimum Load Current Ripple
The conventional auxiliary LC</i> network used in the dual modular input-series output-parallel (ISOP) phase-shifted full-bridge (PSFB) converter could help achieve zero-voltage switching (ZVS) effect under light load conditions to increase the system efficiency. However, because of the total antiphase operation of two modules, the maximum load current ripple would be induced. This article first extends the application of the auxiliary LC</i> technique to the N</i> modular structure. And then by analyzing the primary-side drive signal vectors and the secondary-side output current vectors for each module, the odd number of modular ISOP-PSFB topology is proposed, which has ZVS benefit and minimum load current ripple simultaneously. Afterwards the parameter design considerations for the proposed topology are revealed, and a three modular simulation analysis is carried out for a real fast-charging system to estimate the impact of parameter errors on the system performance. Finally, the experiment demonstrations and efficiency analysis for a downscaled three modular ISOP-PSFB system are provided.
