TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES OF LAYING SELF-SUPPORTING OPTICAL CABLES AT LOW NEGATIVE TEMPERATURES

In the Far North and Siberian regions with large seasonal temperature changes, the priority method of laying optical cables is their hanging on high-voltage overhead line supports. At low negative temperatures, the rigidity of optical cables increases rather significantly and their permissible bending radii decreases. During installation, optical cables are subjected to significant tensile loads and the permissible bending radii of the cables may be violated. In this regard, the present article provides a study of changes in the maximum permissible tensile load and strength of self-supporting optical cables at low negative temperatures. The methodology and results of experimental studies of changes in the temperature of the cable sheath depending on the medium temperature changesare presented. A number of practical recommendations for laying optical cables at low negative temperatures is provided.
