INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES FOR SMART EDUCATION
The use of information and communication technologies in higher education contributes to the improvement of educational technologies, the emergence of new forms of e-learning and information support tools for students’ access to electronic educational resources, primarily using the Internet. In this regard, the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly accelerated the transition to digitalization of the entire national higher education system as well as the use of new information and communication technologies related to distance learning. Recently, new digital technologies based on the use of artificial intelligence technologies, including machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, virtual/augmented reality, etc., are already increasingly being used in the educational process. In order to systematize and regulate the processes of transition to new forms of education, Russian government has adopted a number of national standards that define various aspects of the use of digital technologies in the national education system. The article shows, how the existing problems of traditional teaching methods at the university can be solved with the help of the SMART education system, describes its architecture and functions of the basic components based on the use of information and communication and artificial intelligence technologies, provides an overview of national standards regulating the construction of promising intelligent education systems and examples of the practical implementation of SMART education using a «digital backpack» and Internet of Things technologies.
