Fenomenología de la ciudad irrigada
The aim of this paper is to offer phenomenological bases to understand the role played by water in the constitution of the personal, aesthetic and cultural sense of cities. To this end, I will offer, firstly, a minimal phenomenology of water as an anthropologically determined phenomenon, in which I will try to describe the different layers of meaning under which water can appear and constitute itself as a cultural and aesthetic element before an individual or communitarian subjectivity. Secondly, I will distinguish two forms under which water can appear in an urban context and which constitute two different forms of city: the irrigated city and the supplied city. Finally, I will descriptively contrast irrigation in the cities of Paris, Havana and Mexico City to exemplify the distinctions elaborated in the paper.
