Research on the Development of a Basic Design Education Program Using Generative AI

This study aims to develop and evaluate a basic design education program utilizing generative AI for students admitted without practical art training. Centered on prompt engineering, the three-stage curriculum used free tools such as Bing Image Creator, Krea AI, Adobe Firefly, and ChatGPT. Surveys and instructor interviews confirmed increased creativity, improved idea visualization, and heightened engagement. Notably, students with limited visual expression skills benefited from translating abstract ideas into images. The findings suggest AI can serve as a digital scaffolding tool in creative education.
