Attitude regarding use of simulation model in dental teaching program among interns of dental colleges in Chennai- a cross-sectional study
Background: Simulation has emerged as a transformative educational method that replicates real-world environments and scenarios, allowing learners to practice skills and decision-making in a controlled, risk-free setting. This study aimed to assess the attitude regarding the use of dental simulation model in dental teaching program among interns of dental colleges. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 53 CRI dental students using a 12-item questionnaire which was sent to them as Google form through social media platform and the responses were collected. Scores were obtained by using a 5-point Likert scale and descriptive statistics was done. Results: The survey results reveal that only 15.1% of dental interns have been exposed to simulation-based learning, while a significant 84.9% have not. Despite this, 60.4% view simulation as important or very important compared to traditional learning, and 66.1% believe it plays a crucial role in improving clinical skills. Conclusions: The results indicate a strong positive attitude among dental interns towards simulation-based learning and confidence before treating actual patients.
