Menjalin Solidaritas: Kajian Perbandingan Tradisi Handop di Kalimantan Barat dan Semangat Hidup Komunitas Vinsensian
Handop tradition is a typical cultural practice of the Dayak Uud Danum tribe in West Kalimantan that contains noble values such as brotherhood, mutual cooperation, and social solidarity in the context of farming life. On the other hand, Vincentian spirituality rooted in the spiritual experience of Saint Vincent a Paul emphasizes community life, service to the poor, and appreciation of Christ's love. This study aims to examine the main meanings and values in the Handop tradition, examine the form of community life of St. Vincent at St. Lazare, and identify the similarities, differences, and relevance of both in building solidarity and community life today. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this paper shows that both the Handop tradition and Vincentian spirituality contain fundamental values that can enrich each other in an effort to build a solidary, inclusive and service-oriented community life. This collaboration of local cultural values and religious spirituality makes a real contribution in strengthening the awareness of living together and caring for others.
