Time-division multiplexing binocular stereo holography based on persistence of vision for 3D display
Holography, as a true 3D light-field reconstruction technology, is widely regarded as a solution to the convergence-accommodation conflict (VAC) inherent in conventional stereoscopic displays. While most existing studies prioritize single-viewpoint quality and computational efficiency, this work introduces a time-division multiplexing binocular holographic display system leveraging human persistence of vision. The proposed TDM-BSH system includes an IFrTA-BG and a time-division multiplexing reconstructed method. The IFrTA-BG incorporates the blazed grating phase at the initial stage of the iterative process, rather than generating the hologram using IFrTA and then superimposing a blazed grating phase in it. This approach significantly enhances the quality of the reconstructed image. The time-division multiplexing reconstructed method achieves VAC-free stereopsis by sequentially displaying left-eye and right-eye holograms on a single spatial light modulator (SLM) at 60 Hz, enabling the stereoscopic perception from a rapidly switched parallax image pair. The optical experimental results demonstrate that the proposed stereoscopic display in 2D and 3D scenes exhibits excellent performance.
