Photonic spin Hall effect enabled highly sensitive pressure sensor
In this work, we propose a high-sensitivity pressure sensing platform exploiting the photonic spin Hall effect (PSHE), where pressure-induced refractive index modulations of the sensing medium induce quantifiable spin-dependent beam displacements. By establishing a direct correlation between uniform pressure variations and spin displacement amplitudes, we develop a PSHE-driven metrological approach for pressure measurement. Our study reveals that implementing a plasmonic resonance configuration within the pressure-sensitive medium significantly enhances the response range of spin spatial shifts to minute pressure perturbations. Furthermore, by introducing weak measurement technology, the sensitivity of the pressure sensor near the resonance angle is increased from 2.55 nm/10 MPa to 1259.3 nm/10 MPa. This work provides an approach for optical pressure sensor development and offers an effective pathway for actively regulating spin-orbit interactions.
