The Impact of Economic Sanctions on the Development of Innovations in Manufacturing Companies

The study investigates the effect of economic sanctions on the innovation capabilities of six manufacturing firms in the energy, oil, and automotive sectors. Despite facing declining sales, restricted resources, and financial pressures, companies such as CITGO and PDVSA have managed to sustain innovation by forming strategic partnerships with local suppliers and developing in-house solutions to overcome challenges. The analysis highlights how sanctions, while imposing substantial difficulties, can paradoxically stimulate innovation by forcing companies to adapt and innovate under constrained conditions. The study further explores how companies navigate these adversities and presents recommendations for firms operating in sanctioned environments, stressing the importance of resilience, adaptability, and continuous improvement to thrive amidst economic limitations. The findings provide valuable insights for businesses seeking to remain competitive and innovative in challenging and restrictive global markets.
