The study of optical fiber dosimeter based on Al2O3:C optically stimulated luminescence and radioluminescence
In response to the issue of electronic components being easily damaged in strong radiation environments within existing radiation dose monitoring systems, this study proposes a optical fiber dosimeter design based on the combination of optical stimulated luminescence (OSL) and radioluminescence (RL) properties of Al2O3 doped with carbon (Al2O3:C) with optical fiber sensing technology. The optical fiber dosimeter is capable of remote monitoring of real-time dose rates and cumulative doses in strong radiation fields. By optimizing the filter design, the OSL and RL performance of the dosimeter was experimentally verified, and the results show excellent linear response within the cumulative dose range of 0.01Gy to 1Gy and the real-time dose rate range of 20mSV/h to 1SV/h. In addition, this study utilized three types of optical fibers with different parameters for the dosimeter and conducted experimental characterization. The transmission path and probe structure were also simplified for design, allowing for the replacement of optical fiber and detection materials with different parameters to adapt to monitoring tasks in various complex environments based on monitoring needs.
