Over-voltage analysis and suppression of the gas switch breakdown under nanoseconds pulse
A compact nanosecond pulse based on the Marx Generator was generated in this paper. Ultraviolet radiation and coaxial structure were used to reduce the inductance and the breakdown time delay. The triggered breakdown performance of the two electrodes gas switch under the trigger generator was obtained. When the gas switch triggers breakdown, a high-frequency transient overvoltage emerges, this can cause problems with insulation and electromagnetic interference. To fix this, we suggested using a special type of capacitor made of ceramic. We used computer simulations to show that this capacitor could reduce the sudden voltage rising. When we tested it, the results matched our predictions, and the capacitor worked well to lower the overvoltage.
