Realization of Independent Dual Network Mechanism in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System for Oil and Gas Pipelines
Abstract Leakage of oil and gas pipelines can cause great environmental pollution and affect the energy supply for industry and life. However, the current common monitoring models are unable to realize 24-hour stable monitoring of the oil and gas pipeline status. To realize stable and reliable real-time monitoring of oil and gas pipeline status, a safe and reliable dual-network operation model for oil and gas pipeline detection is constructed based on wide-area network encryption technology and dual-machine hot standby technology. The performance test experiments concluded that the average system recovery time of the dual-network supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) after a failure was 1.62 ms, which was 0.42 ms lower than other model. Whereas the loss rate of the dual-network SCADA was 0.28%, which was 0.12% lower than the control model. In addition, the reliability of the proposed model could reach 97.69%, and the average reliability of the multi-shot model was 97.48% and 97.12%, respectively, so the introduced model is more reliable. Traditional monitoring models were difficult to achieve 24-hour stable monitoring, while dual-machine hot standby technology ensured high availability and seamless operation of the system by real-time switching between primary and backup systems. Moreover, wide-area network encryption technology ensured security and real-time transmission of data. The combination of the two not only solved the problem that a single technology cannot balance security and stability, but also achieved all-weather, highly reliable, and highly secure operation of monitoring systems in complex environments. This innovative technology significantly enhances the risk resistance and practicality of oil and gas pipeline monitoring systems. The dual-network SCADA model enables managers to swiftly identify and address safety issues in oil and gas pipelines, enhancing long-distance transportation and management. This system facilitates timely problem-solving and supports the development of the oil and gas transportation industry.
