Research and application of screening technology based on sine basis functions in the screening of tobacco scraps and stems

To efficiently implement the screening of tobacco scraps and stems in re-dried tobacco laminae and cut tobacco, this research designs a vibrating trough mechanism with a production line, featuring a screening plate based on sine basis function spatial screening technology. Methods: Initially, this research employs the sine basis functions y=acos(ω1x) and y=bcos(ω2z) to design the screening surface on the screening plate, with the material conveying direction along the z-axis and the width direction of the screening plate corresponding to the x-axis. Additionally, this research utilizes the average interpolation method to process screening holes along the trough lines, which are adopted to conduct the screening of tobacco scraps and stems. The surface function equations of the conveying screening plate are set as y=f(x,z), y=5cos(2πx/λ1), y=5cos(πz/λ2), with λ1 being 31.416mm and λ2 being 62.832mm. Concurrently, the diameter of the screening hole is designed to range from 5 to 6mm, exhibiting remarkable looseness and screening efficiency during the screening of tobacco scraps and stems. The continuous sine wave surface not only reduces material fragmentation but also enables the transportation of large-size tobacco materials between the wave peaks and the wave surface. Furthermore, this approach is capable of effectively realizing its looseness and uniform distribution at both peaks and valleys, thereby addressing diverse common technical challenges such as material adhesion and agglomeration. Moreover, it allows smaller tobacco materials to be transported and screened on the trough, thus facilitating the screening of crushed tobacco as well as the separation of “stems” in cut tobacco. Simply put, the spatial screening technology based on sine basis function can be applied to industrial and agricultural related fields.
