HERITAGE EDUCATION AS A HUMAN RIGHT AND AN INSTRUMENT TO PROMOTE CULTURAL HERITAGE AND PREVENT ENVIRONMENTAL RACISM

The article examines heritage education as a human right in the context of environmental racism perpetrated against traditional Brazilian communities. The main objective is therefore to analyse heritage education as a right from a decolonial approach, promoting human rights and focusing on interculturality as a tool in the process of reappropriating territories and preventing environmental racism. It is based on the assumption that heritage education is a human right and should be based on the perspective of interculturality, enabling the dialogue of knowledge by considering the different worldviews, cultures, traditional knowledge and ways of life of traditional communities, thus favouring a transformative attitude towards reality based on valuing cultural diversity.
