An important change to India's indirect taxation structure was made in 2017 with the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).The policy's implementation has had uneven effects on the rural textile sector, despite its intended goals of streamlining tax structures, improving transparency, and fostering a single national market.The impact of GST on India's rural textile industries-which include khadi, handlooms, handicrafts, and small-scale powerloom operations-is examined in this study.These industries employ millions of people from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds.
