Calidad del agua en dos escuelas de Ciudad del Este
Introduction: Water is essential for human development. It plays a fundamental role in the well-being of the population by determining both physical health and mental development. Objectives: To verify the potability of water in educational institutions in the San Miguel neighborhood in 2023. Methodology: This study was carried out using a descriptive quantitative approach, with a cross-sectional design (during the second semester of 2023) and deductive analysis logic, contrasting water quality parameters with established health standards. The sample included two educational institutions in Ciudad del Este: San Francisco School (Remancito neighborhood) and Nuestra Señora de Lourdes School (San Miguel neighborhood), selected due to their dependence on unregulated water sources. Results: At Nuestra Señora de Lourdes School, the pH was 5.51 (4.00 to 9.00). Nitrite (N-NO2) 0.013, Total Coliforms 54, Total Aerobic Mesophilic MNPC, Escherichia coli 4. San Francisco School pH 6.58, Nitrite (N-NO2, Up to 0.1) Less than 0.02, Total Coliforms 6, Total Aerobic Mesophilic 24. Conclusion: Cytological analysis revealed the presence of total and fecal coliforms in both samples, being notably high in "Nuestra Señora de Lourdes," where Escherichia coli was also detected. This bacteriological contamination is indicative of microbiological risk, which compromises the quality and safety of water for human consumption.
