A Study on the Application of Differentiated Instruction in English Language Teaching

This study focuses on the application of differentiated teaching in English language teaching. With the development of personalized education, traditional teaching models are unable to meet the diverse needs of students, and differentiated teaching has become a key strategy to improve the quality of English teaching. Based on constructivism, individual difference theory, and multiple intelligence theory, this study analyzes the differences in students' learning styles, cognitive levels, and proposes targeted strategies: setting differentiated learning goals, dividing teaching content into three levels: basic, extended, and challenging, adopting flexible teaching methods, and establishing a dynamic multidimensional evaluation system. The practice of using Unit 5 of the People's Education Press eighth grade English textbook as an example shows that this teaching model can improve the grades, classroom participation, and confidence of students at different levels. However, there are challenges in designing teaching frameworks, teacher competency requirements, and evaluation tracking mechanisms. Research provides theoretical and practical support for English teaching reform, helping to improve teaching quality.
