LIFE SAFETY TRAINING FOR HUMANITIES STUDENTS

The article reveals the author's approach to improving the content of the academic discipline "Life Safety and Fundamentals of Labor Protection" for students of pedagogical institutions of higher education in Ukraine. The competence of future teachers in life safety is a component of their professional competence. At the same time, its content is significantly broader in comparison with the content for future specialists of non-pedagogical specialties. According to the available textbooks on the discipline "Life Safety and Fundamentals of Labor Protection", it is difficult to purposefully form professional competence in life safety in future teachers in practice. First of all, the content of the educational material should be relevant thematically and procedurally to the future professional activity of the teacher. It has been established that the development of the science of life safety is at the stage of improving its structure and content, which is a sign of a "young" field of scientific knowledge. Typical for this stage are the tasks of clarifying the conceptual apparatus and integrating its content according to the principle of interdisciplinary connection of natural science knowledge. The main drawback of such studies was the detachment of the obtained results from the possibility of their use by future teachers in practice, that is, irrelevance. The declaration by most researchers of the need to solve the problem of forming risk-oriented thinking in students was not supported by the structure and content of textbooks for this academic discipline. Researchers ignored the fact that if there is a scientifically substantiated conceptual apparatus of the academic discipline, it should be involved in all its topics. To solve these problems, it is necessary to start with the development of the content of educational materials based on structural and logical schemes of the emergence and development of hazards (source of danger → dangerous situation → action of a striking factor → causing harm to a person). This approach will help reveal the cause-and-effect relationship between the process of the emergence and development of hazards, select the content lines of educational material, and will also be useful in developing a methodology for forming safe behavior in schoolchildren.
