New 1:25,000 scale geological map of Shahid Mohamadi (Khuzestan province, southwestern Iran)

Abstract
This study presents a high-resolution 1:25,000 scale geological map of the Shahid Mohamadi area in Khuzestan Province, southwestern Iran, a region of significant geographic and ecological importance. We characterise the area's geological framework, natural resource potential, and hazard vulnerabilities through systematic analysis of lithostratigraphic units, tectonic structures, and resource distribution. Our findings demonstrate the province hosts abundant construction-grade mineral resources, underscoring its economic and infrastructural development potential. However, the region is also highly susceptible to geological hazards, including landslides, rockfalls, and widespread sinkhole formation, threatening local communities and infrastructure. These insights provide critical guidance for evidence-based resource management, hazard mitigation strategies, and sustainable environmental planning. Furthermore, the methodological approach developed here offers a robust framework for replicable geological assessments in analogous regions globally. By reconciling resource utilization with hazard resilience, this work advances pathways for sustainable development while contributing to global efforts in geological risk reduction and efficient mineral resource stewardship.
