Emotional Intelligence a Determinant of Good Health
Health encompasses wellbeing, inner happiness and enthusiasm for living, fostering harmony within oneself and with others, while being free from disorders, conflicts, worries, and anxieties. Emotional responses impact both physical and psychological well-being. Unfavourable emotional states are linked to unhealthy physiological patterns, whereas positive emotions align with healthier responses in cardiovascular activity(Cardiovascular exercise refers to intense activities that elevate heart rate, breathing, and promote increased oxygen and blood circulation throughout the body), and the immune system. According to Taylor (2001), individuals with emotional intelligence can adeptly navigate life’s challenges, effectively managing emotions, thereby contributing to robust psychological and physical health. Ciarrochi and Anderson (2000), investigated the moderating role of emotional intelligence in the relationship between stress and mental health. The study aimed to examine emotional intelligence as a determinant of physical and mental health, emphasizing its positive impact on physical and mental well-being.In conclusion, emotional intelligence plays a crucial role in physical and mental health, affecting various aspects of life. The ability to regulate emotions and understand emotional information is particularly critical for individuals with physical and mental health. The concept of mental health is broad, encompassing cognitive and emotional well-being, communication, conflict resolution, and personal growth. Maintaining good physical and mental health is vital for a fulfilling and normal life, while emotional support acts as a valuable asset in preventing physical and mental health disorders.
