Effect of Yogic Asanas on Flexibility and Balance on Elementary School Students
Objective: The main purpose of the study is to observe the physical fitness variables of elementary school students through yogic asana.Subjects: Sixty (N=60) elementary school students were randomly selected as a subject from Gayeshpur Municipality of Nadia District in West Bengal. The ages range from 6 to 10 years.Group Division: All the Subjects were divided into two groups: (i) Experimental group (N=30) , (ii) Control Group(N=30).Methods: The Physical Fitness components were Flexibility and Balance were measured through Sit and Reach Test and Stork Stand Test respectively.Statistical Analysis: To find out the significance difference in physical fitness status among the groups, t-test was conducted. The significance of means were tested at p<0.05 level. For the statistical calculations, excel spread sheet of window version 7 was used.Result: As a result Flexibility and left leg balance of experimental group (Pre and Post Test) were significant differences. It was observed that the flexibility and left leg balance (Pre Test) were significant difference between experimental and control group. It was also observed that the flexibility and balance of both leg (Post Test) were significant difference between experimental and control group. Conclusion: So from the above result it was concluded that the yogic practices are very beneficial for flexibility and leg balance for elementary school students.
