Assessment of Body Mass Index with Motor Fitness

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and motor fitness factors (Speed, Agility) of youth (18 to 20 years old).Material and Methods: 100 male college students total, aged between 18 and 20 years, were chosen at random for the study. Body mass index (BMI) and motor fitness factors (Speed, Agility) were chosen as study parameters. BMI was determined using the accepted method in kg/m2. A 50-meter dash was used to evaluate speed, and a shuttle run was used to agility. The relationship between the parameters was determined using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation. The level of significance was set at 0.05.All data collected by SPSS software version 20 was analysed statistically.Findings: It was found that there was a moderate relationship were found between BMI and Speed (r=.296, p =.003), BMI and Agility (r=.280, p =.005), Assessing this correlation according to body mass index and motor fitness factors produced heterogeneous results. Both are independent qualities and two factors that influence the correlation results.Result & Conclusion: The results of the study revealed a statistically significant relationship between body mass index (BMI) and motor fitness factors (Speed, Agility) in the college male students.
