Study on Balance of School Students
In biomechanics, balance is an ability to maintain the line of gravity of a body within the base of support with minimal postural sway while static balance is the body’s ability to keep COG in base of support. Balance is an important factor in our daily life. Balance is a primary importance for activities like Gymnastics, Dance and different types of sports activities which is considered as the highest form of movement for all persons. The purpose of the study was to observe the development of balance of boys and girls in respect of age. The total number of subject for the study was 60 boys and 60 girls. The age groups of the subjects were 14 years old. The subjects were observed and studied for two years and data’s were recorded and measured at the interval of 6 months during this period. The static balance was measured through Stork Stand Test. The collected data were analyzed through Mean, SD, ANNOVA and Critical Difference (CD) on the basis of the statistical analysis. The following conclusions were drawn – (i) the static balance of boys and girls significantly improved along with the age. (ii) The rate of improvement of static balance of boys is higher than girls.
