Draft Genome Sequence of Wickerhamomyces anomalus MBY2396 Isolated from Nuruk
Wickerhamomyces anomalus is non-conventional yeast with exceptional osmotolerance and the ability to produce diverse aromatic compounds [1].Its resistance to osmotic stress enables it to thrive in high sugar environments, making it valuable for applications such as bioethanol production and sugar-rich fermentations [2].Despite its industrial importance, the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying the properties of W. anomalus remain poorly characterized. This study presents the draft genome assembly and annotation of W. anomalus MBY2396, a strain isolated from Nuruk, a traditional Korean fermentation starter, which exhibits superior osmotolerance. This genomic resource provides a basis for investigating the genetic basis of its osmotolerance, aromatic production and other traits of industrial importance.Approximately 1 g of Nuruk, a traditional Korean fer-
