ANALISIS KADAR BITUMEN ASPAL BATU BUTON (ASBUTON) MENGGUNAKAN METODE EKSTRAKSI SOXHLET

Buton rock asphalt (Asbuton) is one of Indonesia's potential natural resources that contains a significant amount of bitumen. The utilization of Asbuton offers a strategic alternative to reduce dependence on imported petroleum asphalt. This study aims to analyze the bitumen content in Asbuton samples using the Soxhlet extraction method. The research was conducted on ten Asbuton samples from Winning Village, Pasarwajo District, Buton Regency. The Soxhlet extraction method was selected due to its efficiency and accuracy in extracting non-volatile compounds. The results show that bitumen content varies between 27.00% and 34.79%, with moisture content ranging from 3.00% to 6.80%. A strong negative correlation (r = -0.84564) between bitumen and moisture content indicates that higher bitumen levels tend to correspond with lower water content in the samples. Based on the classification by the Directorate General of Highways, most samples fall into the B30 category (high bitumen content). These findings support the potential use of Asbuton as a sustainable construction material and contribute to the optimal utilization of local resources.
