HumanizARTE: a educação social na promoção dos cuidados humanizados em contexto de Estrutura Residencial Para Idosos
Social Education plays a crucial role in contributing to the humanization of care, well-being, and dignity of older adults, requiring practices centered on promoting autonomy and individuality. The HumanizARTE project, developed within the scope of the third-year internship for the Social Education degree in a residential care facility for older adults, aimed to enhance the humanized care provided by formal caregivers. Using the Action-Research methodology, a socio-educational diagnosis was carried out based on consultations with team members (semi-structured interviews) and residents (focus groups), which highlighted the need to intervene with the formal caregiving team. Accordingly, an action plan was established, focusing on developing relational and communication skills among formal caregivers and promoting sociocultural and recreational experiences between staff and residents. The intervention results demonstrate improvements in the personalization of care and interpersonal communication, with the caregiving team incorporating the principles of humanitude into their daily practices. Additionally, the intervention strengthened social relationships and enhanced the well-being of residents. In conclusion, Social Education, through its specialized technical and scientific knowledge, plays a fundamental role in fostering socio-educational practices aimed at humanized care and promoting the autonomy of residents.
