TERMINOLOGICAL CONCEPTS OF URGENCY AND URGENCY IN MEDICAL PRACTICE AND EDUCATION: APPLICATION CONCEPTS

In medical practice, the terms «emergency» and «urgency» serve as critical evaluative categories that significantly impact the organization and efficacy of medical care. Due to their semantic proximity, practitioners often make errors in understanding and applying these concepts, which can lead to inefficient resource allocation and prioritization in patient treatment. Correct interpretation of these terms is an indispensable part of both clinical practice and the education of future healthcare professionals. This article explores the differences between the concepts of «emergency» and «urgency» through the lens of clinical practice, drawing on contemporary research and expert experience. Terminological differentiation allows for minimizing the risk of delays in providing care and optimizing the use of healthcare system resources. Special attention is paid to integrating these concepts into educational programs and materials for the training of medical specialists, which can significantly enhance their professional competence. Studies reveal that approximately 38% of healthcare workers experience difficulty differentiating these concepts in practice, often with serious consequences for patients. Furthermore, among medical university students, over 60% of senior students are uncertain about their understanding of the distinction between emergency and urgent care, underscoring the need for more comprehensive education. The goal of this article is to develop and refine the terminological understanding of the concepts of «emergency» and «urgency», with a focus on regulatory aspects and practical experience in organizing medical care. This, in turn, contributes to improving educational programs and professional training in medical sciences, which is crucial for enhancing the quality of healthcare services and patient safety.

Abstract

In medical practice, the terms «emergency» and «urgency» serve as critical evaluative categories that significantly impact the organization and efficacy of medical care. Due to their semantic proximity, practitioners often make errors in understanding and applying these concepts, which can lead to inefficient resource allocation and prioritization in patient treatment.
