DESIGNING ORGANISATIONAL SYSTEMS TO INCORPORATE AI
The purpose of this research is to investigate the challenges organisations face when striving to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) effectively, focusing on psychological, organisational, and ethical hurdles. The study aims to propose strategies that reduce resistance, build trust, and enable the smooth incorporation of AI technologies into business operations. Methodology. The study employs a qualitative approach, drawing from a comprehensive review of existing literature and real-world case studies to identify the underlying drivers of resistance. It examines key factors such as psychological fears, organisational misalignments, and ethical dilemmas. The research also suggests strategic frameworks and actionable solutions to address these issues. Findings. The study reveals that psychological challenges stem from fears of job loss and mistrust of AI, while organisational resistance is linked to misaligned strategies and entrenched cultural norms. Ethical concerns, including bias, accountability, and data privacy, further complicate adoption efforts. Suggested strategies include fostering transparency, aligning AI initiatives with business objectives, establishing strong governance, and resolving ethical concerns to enable smoother implementation. Practical Applications. This research offers business leaders and policymakers actionable strategies, such as promoting openness, investing in education and training, and ensuring adherence to ethical standards. These steps are vital for building stakeholder confidence and support. Original Contribution. The study provides an innovative framework to address resistance to AI adoption by integrating psychological, organisational, and ethical dimensions. It bridges theoretical insights with practical guidance, equipping organisations to harness the transformative impact of AI while upholding societal and moral principles.
