THE ROLE OF CONTEXT IN THE TRANSLATION OF POLISEMANTIC WORDS
Every translator faces the challenge of selecting the right word to accurately convey meaning in a translated text. This issue is fundamental and remains one of the most complex in translation studies due to the multifaceted nature of language and the semantic variability of words. When a linguistic unit has more than one meaning, and these meanings are semantically connected or share overlapping features, we encounter the phenomenon of polysemy—a key linguistic category (Sierhieieva, 2019, p. 75).
