Review: Burnham-Nobles Digital Archive
The Burnham-Nobles Digital Archive (BNDA) is a resource dedicated to identifying, classifying, and providing documentation about anti-Black killings in the mid-20th century U.S. South in eleven former Confederate states for the years 1930-1954.BDNA is one of the most comprehensive digital records of racial homicides collected to date and is home to more than 12,000 files that include death certificates, press clippings, law enforcement files, reports from civil rights groups, state and federal courts, images and personal stories. While centered on the Black families and communities who experienced this violence, BNDA addresses the relationship between racial violence and official silence while filling important gaps in knowledge about this period.
