FORMATION OF A COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGY FOR SUSTAINABLE WATER USE AND MINIMIZATION OF ANTHROPOGENIC PRESSURE ON THE AQUATIC ECOSYSTEMS OF THE SOUTHERN REGIONS OF RUSSIA

The problem of sustainable water use is becoming increasingly relevant in the light of growing anthropogenic pressure and climate change, especially for the southern regions of Russia experiencing water scarcity. The study identified priority areas for improving environmental sustainability, and examined the main causes of anthropogenic impact and weaknesses of regional water management systems. Special attention is paid to the need to introduce water-saving technologies, strengthen control over the quality of water resources and establish cross-sectoral links between the public, private and scientific sectors. There is evidence to support actions taken to improve regional water resources management based on sustainable development concepts. Based on the proposed approach, water resource management planning programs can be based, aimed at ensuring water security, restoring the natural balance and reducing environmental risks in the southern regions of the Russian Federation.
