Design and Development of an IoT-Based Smart Trolley System Integrated with Automated Warehouse Fulfilment for Retail Checkout Optimization

This paper presents the design and implementation of an IoT-enabled Smart Trolley system that automates the billing process in supermarkets using a barcode scanner, GUI-based interface, and real-time cloud synchronization. The system is built using Raspberry Pi, a GM65 barcode module, and Firebase for data handling, offering a seamless and error-free checkout experience. This innovation aims to reduce human intervention and waiting time at billing counters while ensuring real-time data sync and central billing. The paper explores system architecture, real-world applicability, and deployment feasibility in Indian retail environments.
