Circular economy: opportunities for business development and environmental protection

The relevance of the study was determined by the need to find effective solutions to reduce the environmental burden caused by the linear model of the economy, which leads to the depletion of natural resources, the growth of waste and the deepening of climate change. In today's environment, the implementation of the principles of the circular economy is a key factor in ensuring sustainable development, competitiveness of enterprises and Ukraine's integration into the European market. The purpose of the study was to determine the role of the circular economy in the formation of effective business models that help optimize resource use, minimize waste and reduce environmental risks. The study was based on the analysis of international experience, statistical data, regulations, and the results of scientific publications. A systematic approach, methods of comparative analysis, forecasting, and case studies were used to assess the effectiveness of the circular economy implementation. The results obtained confirmed that the integration of the circular economy contributed to reducing the economic costs of enterprises, increasing their competitiveness, creating new jobs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The main barriers to its implementation in Ukraine are identified, including the lack of incentive financial mechanisms, insufficient infrastructure and low environmental awareness of society. Recommendations for adapting international experience, including the development of industrial parks, improving the legislative framework and stimulating business through tax mechanisms, are proposed. The practical value of the study is to develop recommendations for public authorities, business and the public on the effective integration of the circular economy into the national economy.
