The role of financial monitoring in the system of national security
The article focuses on defining the role of financial monitoring in ensuring Ukraine's national security during wartime. The purpose of the study is to highlight the importance of financial monitoring in maintaining state stability and security by countering the legalization of illicit income, financing of terrorism, and corruption. The research employed general scientific methods of cognition, including analysis, synthesis, generalization, a systematic approach, and comparison. The results demonstrate that financial monitoring in Ukraine serves as a key tool in mitigating risks that threaten the country's economic and political stability. In 2024, the banking sector registered 1.4 million requests for financial operation checks, reflecting significantly heightened control measures. The monitoring system operates on three levels, ensuring effective coordination among law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, and financial intelligence organizations. Monitoring activities contribute to territorial integrity, counteract terrorist activities, corruption, and embezzlement of state funds. Strengthening the stability of the banking system and controlling financial transactions bolster public trust while combating tax evasion and money laundering. The number of financial operation inspections increased by over 100%, but effective crime prevention emphasizes the need for high-quality data analysis. In the context of martial law, adapting financial monitoring strategies has become particularly relevant, aimed at ensuring transparent and targeted funding for defence and security needs. This requires the development of strategically justified yet flexible approaches to managing state financial resources. The practical significance of the study lies in identifying ways to enhance the efficiency of financial monitoring to strengthen national security.
