Discussion and Analysis on Verification Results of Multi-gas Detectors

The performance of multi-gas detectors be affected by chemical degradation or unavoidable calibration drift. According to verification regulation, multi-gas detectors should be properly calibrated before testing it. However, the actual figures of the qualified rate of multi-gas detectors might be lower than that of detectors after calibration, which cannot reflect the real working conditions. In this study, 1740 multi-gas detectors were tested. By comparing the qualified rate of multi-gas detectors before and after calibration, error of indication is the main factor that causing the detectors cannot meet the requirements of verification regulation. Considering the situation of different industries and domestic supervision on multi-gas detectors, the study provided some improvement suggestions. The results can provide reference for different industries using multi-gas detectors to formulate corresponding management regulation.
