Criminality Risk of Residential Area in Sukagalih Urban Village, Bandung City
A city’s safety and comfort are key factors in determining its overall quality. One of the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is to Promote sustainable cities and communities as outlined in SDG’s Goal 11, making urban security a crucial component of urban sustainability. This issue becomes particularly important when considering crime levels in urban areas. This study focuses on the residential area in Sukagalih Urban Village, Bandung City. The urban village with the highest crime rate in Bandung City. The research aims to identify high-crime hotspots within Sukagalih using the Risk Terrain Modeling Diagnostic Utility (RTMDx) software. By mapping these hotspots, the study seeks to understand the spatial patterns of crime. Furthermore, it will examine the implementation of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) strategies in these areas. CPTED is a concept that involves designing urban environments in ways that reduce opportunities for criminal activity. As a result of assessing the implementation of CPTED in Sukagalih, which is still not ideal, this research shows how the condition of a space is one of the causes of high crime risk. The findings can provide insight into how urban design can contribute to lowering crime rates and improving the quality of life of residents.
