Viscoelastic properties of DNA solutions and shear banding in oscillating flow
The structural rheological model is used to describe the oscillating flow in a DNA solution. The rheological behavior of DNA solutions in the field of linear viscoelasticity is similar to the behavior of polymer solutions. The dependence G() is described by the structural model equations for the full measurement interval, but separately for the high and low frequency intervals. With a high concentration of DNA, the number of entanglements increases and a plateau appears on the curve G().The sections of the curve G() on both sides of the plateau are approximated by the equations of the structural model.During steady-state flow, shear banding is observed in solutions with high concentration of DNA.Therefore, it can be assumed that the appearance of the G -plateau is also associated with the formation of layers of solution with different structures, i.e. with shear banding.
