Research on Innovation and Practice of Empowering SPOC Foreign Language Teaching Mode with Large Language Model

This study aims to establish a teaching model that integrates SPOC (Small Private Online Course) and large language models (LLM). Leveraging the powerful language - understanding and generation capabilities of the LLM, on the basis of the SPOC teaching mode, high -quality resources are integrated for pre - class content in the teaching mode. Moreover, personalized courseware is created, and customized content is developed. During the mid-class, the LLM is utilized to organize diverse teaching activities, stimulate students' learning interest, and enhance their language proficiency. For the post-class, LLM is employed to construct a diversified evaluation system. This system can record and evaluate students' classroom performance in real - time, providing students with personalized feedback information. Finally, through case analysis, support vector machine (SVM) is used to classify students' learning styles, including visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and comprehensive. Personalized learning resources are provided for students based on different styles by LLM, and students' learning outcomes are verified through exam scores and student satisfaction. The research results indicate that the teaching model based on the integration of SPOC and LLM can improve students' academic performance and render the distribution of students' grades more balanced.
