A Korean Community Cultural Education Plan Using Public Service Advertisements

As the transition to a multicultural society accelerates worldwide today, the need for education that goes beyond simple language acquisition and helps foreigners understand the culture and values of Korean society is increasingly emphasized in Korean language education. In particular, cultural education that helps learners understand the community-centered culture of Korean society and participate in it appropriately is closely related to learners' actual social adaptability. However, existing Korean language cultural education is focused on traditional culture or everyday culture, and thus has limitations in systematically dealing with abstract cultural elements such as current values and norms of Korean society, especially community consciousness. Therefore, this study aims to develop a cultural education model that effectively conveys the community culture of Korean society by utilizing public service advertisements as a teaching medium and enhances learners' cultural understanding and communication skills based on this.Public service advertisements are a medium that reflects real social issues and conveys community values and ethics, and have great educational potential in that they provide learners with opportunities to actually encounter the cultural discourse of Korean society. The purposes of this study are as follows.First, to develop a public service advertisement-based community cultural education model for Korean language learners.Second, the model is applied to actual classes and its effects on learners' cultural understanding, Korean expression ability, and social interaction attitudes are analyzed.Third, the educational validity and expandability of the cultural education model are examined.
