A Study on the Impact of Selective Characteristics of Smart Home Products on Intention to Use: Based on Internet of Things (IoT)
With the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, home appliances such as TVs, washing machines, and home CCTVs used daily have become connected and controlled through various platforms. This study analyzes the impact of the selective characteristics of Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart home products on users' intention to use. This research aim to empirically examine how the selective characteristics of smart home products (reliability, security, compatibility, and economic efficiency) influence intention to use, with perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use as mediating variables.A survey was conducted on individuals with experience using smart home products, and data analysis was performed using Smart PLS 4.0.The empirical analysis revealed that reliability, security, compatibility, and economic efficiency all had significant effects on perceived usefulness and ease of use, both of which positively influenced intention to use.In particular, perceived ease of use was crucial in enhancing perceived usefulness and usage intention. This study confirms that strengthening security and reliability, improving device compatibility, and reducing economic burden are essential for expanding smart home product adoption. However, this research suggests that future studies should consider a broader range of external factors beyond technical aspects.Additionally, as smart home technologies continue to evolve rapidly, further research should explore the impact of technological advancements on user intention and consumer behaviour.
