Influence of organic inputs on soil fertility, productivity and quality of custard apple in inceptisols

A field experiment entitled “Influence of organic inputs on soil fertility quality of custard apple in Inceptisols” was carried out during kharif season of the year 2023-24 at the Agroecology and Environment Center, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of Organic inputs on soil fertility and quality of custard apple under Inceptisols soil. The experiment was designed using a randomized block design (RBD) with seven treatments and Three replications. Treatments included T1-100% Nitrogen through vermicompost, T2-100% Nitrogen through compost, T3-75% Nitrogen through vermicmpost + 25% nitrogen through in-situ sesbania, T4-75% Nitrogen through compost + 25% Nitrogen through in-situ sesbania, T5-75% Nitrogen through vermicompost + 10% foliar spray of vermiwash (At flowering and Bud initiation), T6-75% Nitrogen through compost + 10% foliar spray of vermiwash (At flowering and Bud initiation), T7-Absolute control. The result revealed that the plant height, number of branches and yield of custard apple were recorded significantly highest with the application of 100% nitrogen through vermicompost. The lowest plant height, number of branches and yield of custard apple were recorded in absolute control. The reducing sugar, non reducing sugar and Total soluble solids were recorded significantly highest with 100% nitrogen through vermicompost which was found at par with 100% nitrogen through compost and superior over the rest of the treatments. The available fertility status of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and sulphur were recorded significantly highest with 100% nitrogen through vermicompost was found at par with 100% nitrogen through compost and found lowest in absolute control. The SMBC, SMBN and CO2 Evolution were recorded siginificantly highest with 100% nitrogen through vermicompost which was found at par with 100% nitrogen through compost. Hence it can be concluded that, the application of 100% nitrogen through vermicompost recorded significantly highest yield of custard apple and improve fertility status of soil.
