Strengthening the country's economic space on the base of integrated value chains: a conceptual approach
From one side, the Russian Spatial Development Strategy, despite its current updated version (SPR-24), continues to receive critical comments, including regarding the lack of a mechanism for its implementation. From the other side, scientists have developed many concepts that remain theoretical ones, including the concept of project integration of regions, the integration model of the Russian region. The article clarifies one of them, namely the strengthening of the country's economic space through the development of regional integrated value chains with the localization of competitive cluster network structures in a region. This approach allows the government to share responsibility for the spatial development of the country with business, as well as solve the problems of equalizing the levels of development of regions by localizing high-value-added links in them. The article provides an analysis of modern concepts of spatial development and interregional integration. The case of a Russian-based pharmaceutical company has clearly demonstrated its functioning as a cluster-network value chain that integrates the regions of Russia into the overall economic structure of the country.
