Design & Development Of Automatic Fire Supression System For EVs

The increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) has intensified the need for advanced safety mechanisms to address fire hazards caused by thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries. Our project focuses on the design and development of an automatic fire suppression system specifically for EVs, integrating real-time fire detection and rapid suppression to prevent catastrophic failures. The system employs high-sensitivity flame and gas sensors to continuously monitor temperature fluctuations, smoke, and combustible gas emissions.A microcontroller-based control unit processes sensor data and, upon detecting fire or thermal anomalies, activates a suppression mechanism that releases a non-conductive, eco-friendly extinguishing agent to minimize damage to the vehicle's electrical components.Additionally, the system incorporates an instant alert mechanism to notify the driver and emergency services, enhancing response time and safety. The proposed is designed to be compact, efficient, and seamlessly integrated within the EV's battery pack and other high-risk areas, ensuring minimal disruption to vehicle operation. The research and development of this technology contribute to the advancement of safer and more reliable EV designs.
