Preface

Dear colleagues, The Editorial Board of the Iraqi Bulletin of Geology and Mining (IBGM) is pleased to announce that the bulletin has been successfully indexed in the Scopus database. The submission was made on July 17, 2024, and the journal was officially accepted on December 27, 2024. Consequently, the first issue to be indexed will be uploaded directly to the Scopus database. As stated in the preface to Volume 20, Number 1 (2024), “Being within the SCOPUS index is a significant step, where almost all the authors prefer such indexed journals.” In this issue—Volume 21, Number 1—the IBGM presents 26 peer-reviewed international articles across 507 pages, contributed by researchers from a range of academic and scientific institutions. Contributors include the Iraq Geological Survey, Groundwater Directorate of Sulaymaniyah, Directorate of Oil and Mineral in Sulaimaniyah, Education Directorate of Kirkuk, and Education Directorate of Babylon; and several Iraqi universities, such as the Baghdad, Sulaimani, Erbil Polytechnic, Sulaimani Polytechnic, Soran, Salahaddin, Babylon, Kirkuk, Komar, Duhok, and Tikrit Universities. In addition, international contributions come from the MicroPro GmbH Microbiological Magdeburger-Laboratory (Germany), Szeged and Miskolc Universities (Hungary), and Urbino University (Italy). The published articles span a wide spectrum of geological fields, including geomorphology, groundwater studies, petrology, lithology, geochemistry, stratigraphy, geophysics, seismology, petroleum geology, structural geology, industrial geology, paleontology, environmental geology, and engineering geology. Notably, several papers adopt a multidisciplinary approach, integrating multiple subfields of geology to enrich their scientific value. The Editorial Board hopes that the contributions in this issue will provide valuable insights and reliable information to the global scientific community.
